Mason vs Princess Superstar brought together Dutch DJ and producer Mason, whose real name is Iason Chronis, and American rapper, singer and producer Princess Superstar, born Concetta Kirschner. Their contrasting styles created one of the most recognisable electro-house records of the 2000s.

Mason established himself within the Dutch electronic music scene through energetic productions that combined house, electro and club-focused rhythms. His instrumental track Exceeder emerged in 2006 and quickly attracted attention for its driving bassline, distinctive synthesiser hook and relentless dance-floor energy.

Princess Superstar had already developed an international following through her playful, provocative fusion of hip-hop, electronic music and alternative pop. Her 2005 song Perfect supplied the confident vocal performance that would later be paired with Mason’s instrumental.

After an unofficial mash-up combined Perfect with Exceeder, Mason contacted Princess Superstar and the artists created an authorised version. Released as Perfect (Exceeder), the collaboration became an international club hit and reached number three on the UK Singles Chart.

The track found a new generation of listeners after appearing in the 2023 film Saltburn. Its renewed popularity returned it to the UK chart in 2024 and confirmed Perfect (Exceeder) as an enduring dance anthem.
