Dance 2 Trance were a pioneering German electronic music duo formed in Frankfurt in 1990 by producers Jam El Mar, also known as Rolf Ellmer, and DJ Dag, also known as Dag Lerner. Widely recognised as one of the formative acts in the development of European trance, the duo helped establish the melodic, atmospheric and rhythm-driven sound that would influence electronic music throughout the 1990s and beyond.
Their early productions arrived as trance was beginning to emerge as a distinct genre. Combining hypnotic synthesiser patterns, driving percussion and expansive electronic soundscapes, Dance 2 Trance created music that was equally suited to underground clubs, large dancefloors and home listening.
